Coconut Sugar vs. Regular Sugar

December 6, 2012

Go Cuckoo for Coconut!

Did you know that both sugar and coconut sugar are quite similar? Why, you ask? The word is sucrose! Sucrose is the organic compound most commonly known as table sugar and sometimes called saccharose.

However, coconut sugar tends to be less processed. Therefore, it retains healthy minerals. It also has a low glycemic index.  How can you go wrong? Who wouldn’t want to retain healthy minerals and vitamins such as B & C? Coconut sugar has actually been used as a traditional sweetener for thousands of years in the South and South-East Asian regions.

So it’s time to try something new and get creative when you add sugar to your drinks and food items but please remember that  all sugars should still be used in moderation!
