Quick Tips on Avoiding Germs

December 4, 2012

Germs, Germs … Everywhere!

I bet you wouldn’t guess that your personal items such as cell phones, computers and purses are hot spots for germs and bacteria to thrive.  Well, skinny followers, it’s true.  Germs and bacteria are EVERYWHERE.  Don’t get me wrong, some bacteria is good and helps with our immunity.  However, the germs that we do not want living on our personal items will continue to grow unless we grab those disinfectant wipes and show those little critters who’s boss!

Did you know that cell phones carry more bacteria than a library book, remote control and public restroom?  I didn’t either.  Ladies, are you aware that our purses carry not one, not two, but THREE dangerous microorganisms?  That’s right!  Candida yeast (causes yeast infections), Acaligenes (causes meningitis) and Enterococci (found in feces) are lurking and growing by the minute!  This definitely makes me wonder, “if my personal items carry this many germs, how many of these disgusting little guys are running wild on public items?”

Sweaty hands come in contact with fitness machines and free weights each day.  If each person has spoken on their cell phones, do not wash their hands and then jump on a machine, we are looking at not billions, but trillions of germs on that one machine only.  What does the skinny suggest?  Wipe off the machine or free weight before each use and save yourself a trip to the doctor or drugstore!
