Delicious Whole Foods to Purchase the Next Time You Go to the Grocery Store

Emily’s Grocery Haul

When speaking with clients about healthy food options, I am often asked “what do you eat?”  I love giving my clients and friends healthy meal and snack options and encourage them to try different whole foods.  I always tell clients that you do not need a lot of ingredients to make up a delicious and healthy meal, as well.

Today I have decided to give you, my Skinny readers, what a trip to the grocery store typically looks like for me.  Obviously items on the list change if I notice certain produce looks funky or if they run out.  I also buy seasonal foods often.  For example, I love cooking with different squash (LOVE butternut!) when the fall rolls around.

Emily’s Grocery List:

-kale

-red or orange peppers

-romaine lettuce

-mushrooms

-tomatoes

-cucumber

-avocados

-sweet potatoes

-brussel sprouts

-celery

-unsalted raw almonds

-unsalted and unsweetened peanut butter

-chicken breasts

-wild salmon

-tuna fish

-ground turkey breast

-blueberries (purchase frozen in winter)

-apples

-Clementine’s

-Greek yogurt (0% or 2%)

Along with my delicious produce, lean meats and healthy fats, I do have items in my home that do not have to be purchased all of the time.  These foods include sprouted bread, steel cut oats, mustard (great for seasoning!) and a variety of spices.

Remember Skinny readers, sticking to the outer aisles of the grocery store will help you stay focused with your plan to eat clean and healthy.  Most grocery stores keep all of their fresh produce there.  The isles in the middle of the store contain the packaged, processed food that we want to eliminate.  Happy shopping!
