Stay on Track with this High Intensity Workout

December 23, 2015

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

December is a busy month for many people.  Not only do you have the holidays to prepare for, but work can be super stressful and hours can be long.  After all, you want to finish your year strong.  It can be difficult to set aside some “me” time when you are being pulled in so many different directions.  But, how many of you feel even more stressed not doing something for yourself (like getting your workout in, hint hint!)  I, for one, feel so much worse.  My morning workout absolutely sets the tone for the remainder of the day.

I enjoy creating (and doing) straight forward workouts that can be done quickly and with little to no equipment.  The reason I love these high intensity workouts is because there is no excuse not to get them done.  Plus, they are super tough.  15-20 minutes is all the time you need to commit.  Instead of looking at Facebook and Instagram, put your sneakers on and break a sweat.  Make yourself a top priority and go rock around that Christmas tree!

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree Workout:  Perform each exercise back to back for one minute each.  Take breaks when necessary, but as always, really push yourself!  Perform 2-3 rounds.

  1. High Knees (challenge yourself even more with a jump rope!)
  2. Burpees
  3. Alternating low back lunge (keep your body low challenging those legs even more!)
  4. Alternating single leg push up
  5. Tricep dips
  6. Jump squats
  7. Inchworms (Stand up tall.  Walk your hands away from your toes into a plank position.  Perform one pushup and then walk your hands back in.  Stand up tall and repeat).
  8. Plank Jacks
  9. Speed Skaters
  10. Reverse Crunches

I wish you all a very happy, healthy and FIT new year!  Bring it on, 2016!
