How My New Year Resolution Turned into a Business Partnership

I always make it a point to avoid making my New Year Resolutions about losing weight.  It’s so cliché and well, typically not always a long term successful result.  This year I made two resolutions:

1. Stop Wasting

2. Find a Skincare Regimen that Works

I have been wildly successful at both of these resolutions.  My “Stop Wasting” resolution has many folds to it: No wasting food, time, money, energy, etc.  Food was huge in my family.  We now only make enough food for dinner that we know the girls will eat at that sitting or the next, not for the week.  I also plan our dinners for the week.  We were ordering out a lot out of laziness and convenience.  Each week I was throwing away so much produce, it was sickening.  This also helps with not wasting money on ordering out when I have a fridge full of food.  I actually found myself starting to crave certain restaurants.  I really no longer do — in just two months.  Today I craved quinoa and shrimp.  Who am I?  A non-wasting chick who is actually losing weight as a result, that’s who.  Woo Woo!

Secondly, for anyone who knows me, I am obsessed with healthy skin.  My mother told me at an early age to protect my skin, as she suffers from sun spots now.  Once I turned thirty, I noticed some major changes in my skin.  I did actually listen to mom.  I remember travelling in the Caribbean with girlfriends in my PS (pre-Stephen) years and watching them load up with baby oil.  I recall even one friend wanting to “burn” to let it peel and then get tan.  I remember telling her, “We are in Jamaica.  Even if you wear a crazy high SPF, you will get tan.”  So she got crazy burnt, was miserable for a few days, peeled, and then was tan — so not worth it.  Despite my best efforts, I still felt my face taking a slight turn for the worst once I reached thirty.  After having babies and almost 40 — lookout.  I also now have the worst bumps and breakouts on my arms.  I am hoping to have fabulous arms for the summer, but who cares if my arms are tone if they are bumpy?  It’s gross.  Bad skin can really make you feel less beautiful.  Well, it does for me anyways.

On an even more personal note, our first daughter was born a collodion baby, later diagnosed with Ichthyosis Erythroderma, a genetic disease found in 1 and 600,000 individuals.  The name basically means red fish scale skin.  Our second daughter was born with a hemangioma on her genitals that ulcerated when she was three months old.  A hemangioma is basically raised blood vessels on the skin.  Typically, it just doesn’t look pretty and really isn’t harmful.  But, if it is close to a major organ, it needs to be treated.  We had to put her on a beta blocker at 3 months old.  For lack of a better word, it sucked!  My husband developed Vitiligo in his late twenties.  To say the least, healthy skin is a daily focus in our home.  We all have pretty extensive skin regimens.

As for me, I was really giving everything the ol’ college try.  My last ditch efforts was trying Chanel for a couple months.  I love their makeup.  The skincare line just didn’t do anything for me.  I tried some lotions prescribed by my dermatologist, no major changes.  Then I was introduced to Rodan + Fields.  Ahhh!  Thank you, Jesus.

Rodan + Fields are the dermatologists that created Proactiv®, which is for acne skin.  They sold Proactiv® for millions and decided to take their skincare line and focus on anti-aging, blemished skin, red skin, and sun spots.  These doctors are brilliantly talented.  Their products are clinically proven to work!  This has been the most reputable product that I have EVER come across.

It has only been a few weeks, and I am already seeing major benefits and results.  I am using “Unblemish” on my arms and “Redefine” on my face.  I am in love (Sorry Stephen, I thought for sure it would only be you forever.)  I am so in love with this skincare line, that for the first time in 10 years of being a business owner, I have added it to my menu to share the love with my clients.  I have never sold a product of ANY kind through my company.  What I also love, these doctors stand by their product.  If you do not see results in 60 days, send it back for a full refund.  That is crazy.  Nothing to lose right?

Fall in love with me.  Learn More about Rodan + Fields and why I partnered with these amazing doctors.

Cheers to healthy skin and keeping my New Year’s Resolutions!
