Yoga wove its way into Kristin’s heart after college in 2008. A committed student of yoga, free spirit, and music lover she is involved in many diverse activities and communities in the city. She found a deep connection with yoga after healing from a personal trauma. It reignited her inner light and she wants to share how anyone can turn inward and reconnect every day. The healing powers of yoga truly do transform when practiced with discipline, faith, and playfulness.
Yoga Class Style
Kristin teaches a hatha style class that uses an array of yoga styles (yin, vinyasa, hatha, ashtanga, jivamukti, and bow-spring). She utilizes the “yoga tool box” or 8 limbs of yoga to decipher what is needed for her students and includes poses, breathwork, and meditation in all of her classes. She strives to create a safe supportive environment for all to freely explore and connect to their mind, body, and spirit. She enjoys teaching everyone from the beginner to those looking to deepen their practice.
Swim Instruction Class Description
Kids Learn to swim classes are based on age and skill level. Six months – 3 years the focus is on play and song with gentle water acclimation. Parent involvement is highly encouraged. The children get used to face and head submersion in a gentle unforced way and basic freestyle kicking.
Ages 3-6 years (Swim 101 class): Children are taught through games that utilize imagination and independence and progressive drills to continue to build confidence and surface body position in the water. Skills learned are breath holding/control, freestyle kicking, back kicking, paddle survival stoke, and basic freestyle. After mastering basic skills your child then progresses to Swim 201 where they focus on freestyle with side breathing and backstroke. Each child is unique and progresses along their own path to swimming it is important to exercise patience and consistency as performance is often dynamic day to day/week to week.
