Abigail has been providing swim lessons since 2023, working with a diverse range of ages, from infants as young as six months (with a parent in the water) to children around twelve years old. Her experience includes teaching private one-on-one lessons, semi-private sessions, and group classes with up to ten children at a time. She has also successfully worked with children who have autism and special needs.
During lessons, Abigail enjoys swimming alongside her students to offer tips and encouragement as they progress. She emphasizes the importance of hard work, reminding them that with dedication comes the opportunity for play.
Abigail believes in balancing work and fun based on the needs of her students. It’s crucial for her to ensure that children understand how well they are doing, without comparing themselves to others in the class. She emphasizes safety while swimming, stressing the importance of efficient breathing and encouraging them to progress at their own pace—there’s no timer or race, just the understanding that practice leads to improvement. Abigail is committed to fostering a comfortable learning environment and will never pressure a student into doing something they’re hesitant about. Instead, she offers alternatives, such as trading a skill for a new one or trying different exercises that boost confidence until they master the desired skill.
Currently, Abigail holds four jobs while being both a high school and college student. She will be the first in her school to graduate high school with her first year of college completed. As the oldest niece and sister on both sides of her family, she has naturally taken on the role of the designated babysitter since a young age. Abigail has a wonderful rapport with children, who, to simply state, they adore her.
