About Jamila . . .
Jamila was born and raised in Indianapolis. Her family has always been immersed in sports and athletics in some capacity. This immersion has been a main stay in her life to stay active.
Jamila was introduced into the world of yoga while studying at Ball State University. She took a class for college credit and had no idea how much she would enjoy the class and what it could offer her, both on and off the mat. She really enjoyed being able to release what was going on in the outside world and find a way to center and have balance. She graduated from Ball State with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Public Relations. In her 20-year career in social services she found her way to her mat often to release the stress of the day while also gaining strength and mental clarity. Her desire to continue to explore what yoga has to offer, she sought out and obtained a 200hr RYT in August of 2014. She taught a small class to professionals within the IU hospital network many years ago. She has taught classes to family and friends and recently to staff within her current role at a non-profit. She also uses what she has learned regarding meditation and movement to help the families and staff she works with find a way to deal with and manage the trauma that comes along with the world of foster care.
She currently lives in the Fishers area with her family. She enjoys finding ways to incorporate healthy habits into her lifestyle and into those that she meets. In her free time, she likes to workout, garden, cook, craft, be with her family and go for walks with her sweet Golden Doodle.
