Introducing the 7 Chakras: The Solar Plexus Chakra
January 6, 2025The next chakra in our Introduction to the 7 Chakras series is the third of the seven main energy centers, the Solar Plexus Chakra, or Manipura in Sanskrit. Manipura translates to “city of jewels” and can also be referred to as “lustrous gem.” Located a couple of fingers above the navel and below the sternum, the Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with yellow and represents the fire element. This chakra relates to self-esteem, determination, strength, and inner power. The Solar Plexus Chakra is linked to the power of transformation and creation.

Ways to balance the Solar Plexus Chakra
● Asanas: Dynamic poses including Navasana (Boat Pose), Phalakasana (Plank Pose), Virabhadrasana I and II (Warrior Poses), Dhanurasana (Bow Pose), Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) and Ashta Chandrasana (High Crescent Lunge) help cultivate strength and enhance inner power.
● Breathwork: Energizing breathing techniques like Kapalabhati (Skull Shining Breath, also known as Breath of Fire) stimulate the Solar Plexus Chakra by activating the muscles in the abdomen and increasing energy.
● Affirmations: Repeating mantras like “I stand in my power; I am confident and capable of achieving my dreams; I trust my intuition; and my inner fire burns bright, inspiring me to take action” foster a sense of empowerment and connection to the Solar Plexus Chakra.
The Solar Plexus Chakra fuels transformation and personal growth, igniting our inner fire and allowing us to release what no longer serves us.
